sydthecat: --- you're absolutely correct. Even worse or just as bad are the ones from Boston '91 (DP 17) and Englishtown '77 (DP 15).
I got the Garcia Estate's latest release, Hampton '91, and it seems to have the same problem as most of the DP's (earlier Garcia Estate releases are better quality).
One really sweet Dick Pick release is DP 29 (Fox Theatre and Lakeland, FL '77.} --- AshesRising (jerri1031-dp3ATyahooDOTcom)

considering his thoughts on the 5/8/77 show, Dick may have been too high when he picked alot of his DP's

Like I said----green kryptonite. Dick and other members of the Dead family have been proven wrong time and again by those who know---us. Like many, I got sick of Ithaca after many years of it being touted as the "best". But it's ridiculous to name 20 other shows better than Ithaca when I or any number of Heads could name could have named 30 other '83 shows better than that fucking Hartford '83 gig he put out. The late emperor has no clothes. And some may think I'm not showing proper respect, but listen, after the things I've read about actual members of the band on this site I think I'm being pretty diplomatic.

Englishtown is a fine show but for me it's the Dead going into coked-out rockin' mode. Ithaca has the lightness of touch of the spring tour and swings more definitively----the drumming is less heavy-handed than at Englishtown (necessitated there by the size of the crowd---"Can you hear me at the back?"). And, as much as I adore the Feb. San Bernadino Swing's first set, I think the Ithaca 2nd set leaves the Swing 2nd set in the dust. There's no comparison.

Or to put it bluntly: Dick, what a crock.

aha! green kryptonite- gotcha! lol.
I've mentioned this before, i talked to SuperDick at the DP13 Release Party at The Fillmore 4/9/99 and he panned the 5/26/73 Kezar show as one of the worst of that year.
I've enjoyed most of DrFlashbacks picks more than Dick
